Although everybody calls me Adri. It is a pleasure to meet you !!!
Ok, first things first I am a huge history geek! Now, I have never been much of a writer (and lord knows I am a horrible speller) but I have always loved learning about cultures, anecdotes, and the stories of the people around me. So I have decided to becom or at least attempt to, an expert on all things Cádiz.
Bold Move, Right!
So I have started this blog to share my journey of all things Cádiz. Everything I learn, experience, and consume as I explore my home province. This way, you can learn from my mistakes and skip directly to the best things my home province has to offer.
MY ORIGIN STORY
By blood, I am technically Idahoin (that would be Idaho, USA) but my parents moved from the US to Europe in the 80s and I was lucky enough to be born in Rota, Spain. Double lucky because as fate would have it my father fell in love with the Iberian Peninsula and decided to stay.
My mother however was not as smitten with the area and ended up moving to Germany, which meant I got to experience snow, forests, and mountains in the winter, and my summers were in sunny southern paradise.
I Know, I Know, SPOILED!
Once I graduated high school I went to an American university in Europe. Moving all the way to the US seemed a little daunting when I was 18, so I stayed close to what I knew. After my studies, I decided to do a master’s which eventually took me stateside for several years. Then in 2017 I had enough and decided to move home to Spain.
Home Sweet Home
So here I am back in my hometown, without much of a plan and lots of free time. I knew I wanted to start my own business, but I was unsure of my direction, so in the meantime, I started to teach English and became involved in local tourism with friends. It was then when I realized how incredible my home province is.
That is when I decided to turn my love of culture and history into something I could use, and began organizing excursions and tapa (tasty bite-size food) experiences for those who came to visit our corner of the world.
Other than that I spend my free time exploring my home, doing sports, and hanging out with my friends.
Oh, and I am a huge foodie, So I do spend quite a bit of time thinking about food, talking about food, and of course, eating food.
Also, my best friend is a yoga instructor, so yoga has become a daily routine.
P.S. If you are interested in practicing yoga let me know cause I know a gal ????
